OUR VISION, PURPOSES
AND OBJECTIVES - January 2008

We are asking our lay leaders, members, and staff to embrace and direct their efforts towards making our Vision Statement, Purposes, and Objectives, a reality. – Canon Bristow, Bob Clarke, Cal Haverstock, Pres Harrison, the Parish Executive Committee.

OUR VISION STATEMENT

  • TO SHARE the Good News of God's redeeming love in Jesus Christ
  • TO WORSHIP God in such a way that people are inspired to respond in Adoration, Praise and Thanksgiving
  • TO BE A COMMUNITY where people of every generation are welcome, cared for, and contribute to our life together, each in their own way.
  • TO BRING PEOPLE of all ages into a vital, living relationship with God the Father, through Jesus Christ, our Saviour, in the Power of the Holy Spirit.
  • TO REACH OUT to our community and beyond in practical ways that glorify God and build his kingdom.

OUR PARISH OBJECTIVES - 2007-2010

With God’s help, let us build a parish that is growing ...

  1. In spiritual maturity – by becoming more Biblically literate, deepening our prayer life individually and corporately, and exercising the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit in parish life.
  2. In ministry – by learning to pray and care for one another as part of the Body of Christ; and doing the same in our families and the community.
  3. In evangelism – by inviting people into a vital, transforming relationship with the Living God, and by equipping others to do the same.
  4. In outreach – by making a practical difference in our world.
  5. In healthy family and personal living - by strengthening marriages and families, couples, and singles in their relationships.
  6. In sound financial stewardship - by challenging our members to see our offerings as a fundamental part of our commitment to Christ, including tithes and offerings...and by responsible and visionary budgeting.
  7. In numerical growth – by being intentional about growing to an average attendance of 250 per week by 2010, so that every member will help to make St. Philip’s a welcoming place where more people can grow in faith and share their hope in Christ.
  8. In joyful, inspired celebration in worship by giving more room to personal witness talks, drama and other creative elements that enhance our worship and glorify God.
  9. In true intergenerational life together – by discovering ways to rejuvenate the congregation and make ways for people of all ages to contribute to our life and witness.
